Remedial Massage

According to Chinese records dating back 3000 years massage is one of the oldest healing arts.

For centuries people have used it to maintain health and for relief from stress, injuries, and chronic and acute conditions. Massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing process.

It uses varied techniques including stroking, kneading, rocking, stretching and holding steady pressure.  The pressure applied can be either strong and deep or gentle and shallow depending on the problem and your tolerance of the pressure.

At your first treatment we will discuss your health and lifestyle and any symptoms you may be experiencing. We will discuss your medical history and note any medications you may be taking.  Your range of movement will be assessed and then together we will formulate a treatment plan.

Your massage will take place in a clinic room where we aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible. You will decide how much to undress for your massage.

The therapist will leave the room while you undress and before she returns you will cover yourself with a sheet and blanket on the massage table. Appropriate draping protocols will be maintained throughout the treatment.

Please note we do not give out bravery awards. You are always in control of your treatment. If you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the massage, immediately inform your therapist. Your welfare is our highest concern

Following the massage, we reassess to see how your range of movement or pain levels have improved.. You may feel relaxed, floaty and a little sleepy.  Some people feel a surge of energy, awareness and concentration.

The effects of a massage can be ongoing for up to three days after the treatment.  Keep well hydrated in this period to help the toxins released by the massage, flush from your body.

The detox your body may experience after a massage may result in minor muscle aches and fatigue. If you have any concerns over how you are recovering after a massage don’t hesitate to call us.

With your permission, a week after your treatment we will contact you to check on your recovery and progress.
